1st) Scorcher... Not as complex lyrically as Ghetts and Wretch but still got serious content and word play, he's a good all round package... he's got the swagger ladys love and tugs can't help but rate. Spits fire at the same time has the potential to be signed and marketed well.

2nd) Wretch 32... Out of anyone elses league lyrically. You can listen to his bars years later and still pick up on new metaphors and punchlines you never clocked first time round. However this my be his downfall, as its not what the mainstream appreciate (eg. wearing my rolex).

3rd) Ghetto... OG status!! Been big from day one and only getting better, If thats even possible??? Makes the top 3 on sheer work rate alone... Anyone can bang out tune after tune (eg. Wiley) but ghetts always stays at a constant high quality... Not to mention nobody can fuck wid his bars!!

4th) Kano... OG Status again!! Only good mc to sell proper units!! Dizzee makes good tunes, and hes got shower lyrics but he's not up there with the people I'm listing lyrically... Kano makes top 5 becuase if its out of him Wiley and Dizzee to be pioneers of Grime, he out shines them all!!!

5th) Bashy... Without marketability you are nothing in the music game... Bashy is a very talented spitter, aswell as having the catch phrases and commercially influential tunes, which with the right backing could make him go far. He's like JME, but good lyrically lol... Hes also got that swagger I spoke about with Scorcher... The only reason Bashy is number 5 is work rate. The first mixtape was like 2003, the album never dropped in 2004... The next mixtape was 2007, which then advertised 2 more mixtapes for 2007 which never dropped.. Now its 2008 and hes promising the album again... who knows??? Catch him if you can!LOL

1)Eroko jr... doubt alot of people have heard of him but when you listen to him he has a sort of complex way of rhyming which puts u in a sort of trance.
2)Black the Ripper...His lyrics are catchy and you hear alot of things that you can relate and every song of his i heard was good.
3)Kano... The main reason is cause i heard him from day and he was the main one who influenced me in to becoming an artist, and he only get better.
4)Ice kid... His rhymes are sort of poetic and very advanced for his age and all of his songs i want to listen on.

1. Rakim - shouldn't' be hard to see why...

2. Big Daddy Kane - He influenced the raooers who influenced most of this generations rappers, i.e Jay-Z, The Game, etc...

3. Jay-Z - Come on, Hova is sick...

4. Kano - Number 1 UK MC. Needs a few more classic albums to rise in this list, but he's still sick.

5. Guru - underated.

1. Kano -

The only artist from the scene who can actually proclaim to have; had mainstream success, collected mobos, won a B.E.T award for the UK, been a playable character in the Def Jam Icon game in which the rest of the characters are Americans (arguably the best fighting style aswell). Kano makes music that speaks to you & is very versatile with the music he makes. Songs like Layer Cake, Imagine & This Is My Life are standout songs in which he puts his soul in to speak to the listener. In between album commitments, Kano always manages to make fire mixtapes to show that he's work ethic is never lost. Kano has definately done alot for the UK music scene.

2. Wiley -

The pioneer of the Grime sound, the maverick who is responsible for all the young talent coming through from the Stryders to the Chipmunks. Wiley makes authentic Grime music that speaks for the streets and the place where he grew up & lives. He gets alot of respect from all that listen to his music because regardless of the ups & downs, he's forever managed to get back on his feet & do something about it, which shows love for the music. A top 5 would not be right without Wiley.

3. Ghetto -

Much known for his fast sharp flow, stabs up any beat & rips it to shreds. Seems to have a never ending lyric book. Ghetto is a focal part of the UK music scene who can entertain a crowd & deliver good music that speaks to listeners which was proved on the release of Ghetto Gospel. He's lyrical content with clever metaphors makes him a focal asset to the UK music scene. Most people would regard him as a tempo specialist along with others in his collective such as Wretch 32, Scorcher & Mercston to name a few.

4. Durrty Goodz -

Out of all the people that have ever attempted to battle Wiley, the only person to have ever came out on top was Durrty Goodz, then known as Durrty Doogz. From his early work, it was evident that he was to spend a long time in music. His fast flow, delivered with slick word play is probably matched by no one to date in the UK. Even with the skippy flow, you can understand what he's saying & he's making sense which alot of artists haven't managed to do so far.

5. D Double E -

Arguably the most entertaining to ever come from the scene. He has his own unique sound with the echo which is distinctive & you know it is him straight away. Has a slew of reload bars. Much respected for his early years.

1. Ghetto - Guy Is Just Highly Flammable! END OF STORY!

2. KA - From Day Been Bringing Bangers & Its Good 2 See Ur Back On Our Street!

3. Wiley - Pioneer Status, Even Doe I Think He's A PRICK, Man Can't Deny Mans Talents.

4. Devlin - WOW! Just WOW! This Guy Jumps On Tracks With Ghettz & Gives Man A Run For His Money, Only 19 As Well (I THINK!)BEAST!

5. Wretch 32 - IM LEVELS ABOVE THATS BLATENT, JUS CHECK MY PUNCTUATION! LYRICALLY HEAD TOPPING PEEPS!

Liked Biskit's Top 5

1. Kano- An artist that appeals to the mainstream and underground. Been around practically since day 1 with Nasty Crew but broke out. Got songs that appeal to the ladies with, This Is The Girl, Nite Nite. Got songs for the hype with Ps And Qs and Mic Check. Got songs for serious issues, Layer Cake, Dead Presidents Freestyle. Got songs about present day, Fightin The Nation and Don't Come Around Here. K-A is trying to make his status to influence the youts. Got song for clubs (Not like Wearing My Rolex or Rolex Sweep although) And has got bars after bars with freestyles. In my eyes the best free stylist around. Got a bit of hype around U.S, and is a MC you can understand and hear clearly. K-a is MC NO.

2. Wiley- Known to have created grime, def influenced grime to be where it is now. Would say Wiley is its past, present and future. Wiley's been there way back along with Dizzee, Kano, D Double E and a few more. Releasing a highly anticipated album. And has mentored a few Mc's in Chipmunk and Tinchy. Part of Roll Deep and Boy Better Know. Name your favourite Mc and bet Wiley has clashed them. Who knows where grime would be without Wiley.

3. Ghetto- Top 3 Selected. Consistent and fast bars. Can get any crowd hyped. Tried calming down with Ghetto Gospel. Then came out with Freedom of Speech, which has fast sharp and dark lyrics. Don't think will make it commercially, but arguably one of the best Mc's in the game.

Noticed that these Mc's hasn't been put into no1s top 5. I feel these Mc's gotta be put in

4. Dizzee Rascal- Been there since day 1 really along with Wiley. Has one of the best grime albums ever with Boy In Da Corner. Has got the richest out of all these artists. Trying to make it commercially by collaborating with Lily Allen and Calvin Harris with Wanna Be and Dance With Me respectively. When you think of grime NOW you don't think of Dizzee but he has done a lot.

Don't know how he got into my head or top 5 but you gotta give this man his props still.

5. Sway- Yes- he is not grime, but he is a mc. A good one at that. Has got a skippy flow. Released 4 Mixtapes, One EP and working on his 2nd album. Got signed to Akons Konvict label. Would be better if he opened doors for people like Pyrelli.

Other mentions go to:
Akala
Bashy*
Chipmunk
D Double E
Klashnekoff
Bizzle
Scorcher
Tinie Tempah*
Tinchy Stryder*
Boy Better Know

1) Kano - never ever made a weak tune! 2 big albums and a 3rd on the way! 2 great mixtapes and I cant remember the last day I went without listenin to atleast 1 album! Best artist to come from the UK, i book the album release dates off work - aint no other artist worth doing that for!

2) Skepta - Big beats, Big bars and a proper bad man! A more simple flow than other MC's but that just enhances his delivery. The music is always on point: done tunes for the club, the yard, the whip and he gives me f*kin jokes too! I WANT A SKEN DAS LOOOOOOONG!!! haha, cant w8 for microphone champion!

3) Tinchy Stryder - Thought Star in the Hood was an immense album and with limited featured artists, which is different, it still dropped heavy! Rely on Me is one of the best Grime tunes ever made, even my mans dat dont like grime like his tunes so hes doin sumin right! And definitly gota big him up for the STAR IN THE HOOD tee's - Reppin!!

4) Chipmunk - For a yout this guy is big! At first i was skeptical like this lil wasteman acting like a big man, but after giving League of my Own a proper listen he is actually killing it for his age! For him to go up on radio and stages at his age is admirable, i duno if id have the b*llocks to do it and im 20 so respect him alot for that: and his tunes aint flopping like other boys that r tryin it!

5) Ghetto - Dis man is grime all over, sometimes hes on such a hype its scary lol!! Hes spat lines raw and hard from day 1 and think both ghetto gospel and freedom of speech murked it! He delivered alot of one liners and punch lines dat circle in ma mind still! "Im wild with a hand gun..... SCOOOOOOORRR ...DER DOES SOMEBODIES GRANDSON!" pure 100% grime!

1. JME - He is one of few positive MCs in the game, and he pulls it off well. And to get where he has without the help of a label is big, anyone that cand o that has my respect. Plus his play on words is amazin.

2. Kano - The flow is easliy the best in the scene. And to get as big as you have without straying too far from grime is big (like other certain MCs that have forgotten where they came from) and its even better that '140gst' is gonna b back to grime.

3. Big H - A very underrated MC accordin to me, his bars and flow is nang. but he needs to do more, hopefully teh release of 'Street crime UK' will get him bigger in teh scene.

4. Wiley - really you cant have a grime top 5 without the godfather of grime himself. this man is just a legend in the game.

5. Chipmunk - Only recently broke through but is coming hard. With 3 mixtapes and album soon chippys gonna be big and to be there at just 17 is a true feat.

top 5 hmmm????

1st place is between kano, ghetto and devlin (I can listen to these guys all day, soo lyrical)

2nd place is between scorcher and wretch 32 (there big but just not on par with the 3 above)

3rd place is akala and all da other boys in the movement. (akala would be higher, but you dont hear much from him but when you do its big!, about the rest of the movement, no explanation needed, there just on that level)

4th place is most of boy better know (they got good stuff, but there not tracks I can listen to all the time)

5th place to all the cats in the grime game.

to be honest its all about top 3 really!!!!!! big up everyone on the grime scene, its gonna explode n every1's gonna make big p's

1) KANO - The discography speaks for itself.

2) GHETTO - I don't think I even need to say anything, Ghetts IS Grime!!

3) SCORCHER - Swagger is on point, and the boys nice with the flow, Scorch is in on 3rd cos hes versatile to break into the mainstream.

4) WRETCH 32 - In an industry swamped with dumb flows on hot beats, Wretch stays consistent with his content.

5) DEVLIN - i bet he don't even know how much potential he has!!

This is me being honest, not cos they with the movement but honestly..just goes to show how talented the movement is!!

PS. Chipmunks already being heard, but don't sleep on Ice Kid..potential is crazy!!

You man are mad....

realistically

1 - Goodz - reason i put him first his cus his flows and melodies are on a DIFFERENT level to every one else. He breaks the mold with concepts and ideas, and it's a breath of fresh air for someone to not glamorise the violence.

2 - Kano - His swagger is a cut above everyone else, his bars are a bit on the sloppy side sometimes for someone who goes on about how technical and lyrical he is. But that doesn't take away from the vibe u get from listenin to him and the way he rides the beat is only second to goodz. I like london town though i dont really care i think musically it was better than home sweet home just not got that hunger to it.

3 - Ghetto - He's as close as grime gets to being technical. He switches up from the standard AABB rhyme scheme varies it up and keeps a decent syllable count too without too much filler too. He paints a good picture, his imagery is rated highly.

4 - Random Impulse - His last CD was impressive. Again he aint on the same I shot this, I spit this many bars etc.. he has something to say which is really refreshing. I think he could tighten up his dilevery in some parts but i like his ideas.

5 - Chipmunk - Reminds me of a young kano to be honest. He's got swagger which noone can deny and his writing ability aint too bad either. Obviously he's only 17 or whatever he does need to mature but when he does i think he'll be a force to reckoned with.

Thas my 2pence still

if we are going purely on grime then here it is:

1) Goodz- his EP showed what a great track maker he is, his album should be a showcase of what grime could be. Content, flow and punchlines all with heart felt meaning!

2) KA...flow is still the best in grime cos of the variation. Has content and knows how to make a track.

3) Wiley cos he almost created this thing single handedly and is constantly trying to move things forward, held his own with all the best MC's about, you have to respect that.

4) Double S...recognise the talent this kid has for punchlines and flow, just need to hear one more mixtape of the quality of his first and he will be top 3.

5) Ghetts- couldn't leave him out, has far too much respect and its for good reason, work rate is incredible, always trying new bars on sets and still gets the crowd hype! i rate that.

followed closely by:
wretch 32- should be a hip hop artist, Punctuation was fukd!
P Money- mixtape sounded like an album
Devlin- with a little variation in flow and content could be top 3!
Frisco- CONSISTENT!

the guy who said guru (kez) i think your right (jazzmatazz)

US - TOP 5

1 - Lil wayne grant since the age of 14, he invented the word bling if you dont believe me look up the song on youtube. Wayne has been able to spit on any genre listen to the carter 3 if you dont believe me or any of his mixtapes

2 - Nas clever lyrics (political at some times) always changing his flow to adapt and song, many years of success.

3 - Snoop dogg after all these years he still goes strong, serious lyrics an actual OG, one of the pioneers of hip hop/rap not the first but i highly rate him. Over all these years look at the music hes made and even know with new artist he still merks

4 - talib kweli one of the most underrated mcees i think just because he doesnt talk about guns!

5 - Eminem after years of work, his music is too good. he can be serious or just be joking on tracks. His lyrical delivery is soo different which is how he is set apart from the rest, the conviction in some of his lyrics is mad...

Other artist i couldnt mention from the US T.I 2pac biggie plies, as good as they are i think this is a good top 5. As good as 2pac and biggie are they are too old (if they were alive i think they would be top two but there style is outdated).the game is just beef bars..cassidy swizz beatz theres so many pimp c (rip) loadz more

U.K

1 - Sway been signed to a US label pretty main stream in the US even though hes not on grime any more hes showing america the UK has talent.

2 - kano lyrical content, sales, broke in to the US first (even though for some reason people think dizzee biggerr kano has sold more from my research), i know a guy in texas who listens to grime. most mainstream artist (best way to get the scene overground), able to spit on anything (even wiley admits that)...i think the most rounded mcee due to diversity

3 - wiley started a scene, always working, leaks his own mixtapes, i rekon hes the most bootlegged UK artist, always re-inventing. Has a good flow produces loads of beats, when he started tunnel vision in that year i think he got like 10 album/mxtapes out which is mad work.

4 - ghetto straight up dirrtty lyrics, content is there, passion is there (even though he does shout from time to time) bars are merkage all day...

5 - dizzee quite main stream appeals to people at oxford university (dont know why other artists dont get heard) took grime to the US also, first mobo winner, different style and flow, adapts to different types of music.

Lil wayne is the biggest artist in the world and no one can tell me otherwise because if you listen to his mixtapes(theres like 50) hes been working hard for a loong time even though people like jay z nas etc... are good i dont think anyone can be as original as he is. Listen to the dedication mixtapes or the new orleans nightmare 1-10...
signed at the age of 14 says something he never swore on any tracks until he was 18 which i admire and i dont think anyone else has done that.

My top 3/5 always changes, me and my friends always talk about it a lot, but thats it right now.
